Bio

Quang Nguyen has been dancing since the swing dancing gap commercial days in 1998. He started with no previous dance experience, but quickly excelled to become a national dance competitor. He has been on the Houston Swing Dance Society Dance Troup "The Hepcats" for several years. He performed at the Harlem Jazz Festival, American Lindy Hop Championships, Miller Outpost theatre dance productions, Dance Houston Annual Productions, and many other local events. As a member of the Hepcats, he competed multiple times at the American Lindy Hop Championships. In 2001, he won two national championships at the American Lindy Hop Championships, the Open Jack N Jill Division and the Pro-Am Division. In 2002, he placed second in the Jack N Jill Advanced division for the same competition. He currently teaches lindy hop as one of the main instructors for the Houston Swing Dance Society.

Vivi Nguyen started swing dancing almost 3 years ago. Being mesmerized by the Houston Hepcats performances, she quickly joined the team after a year and a half learning dancing at the Houston Swing Dance Society. Married to Quang Nguyen, they become partners in dancing and perform at various swing dance events around town. She herself won first place in the first Lone Star Championship in Austin in 2007 in the Jack N Jill division. Vivi and Quang Nguyen both are active members and teachers at the Houston Swing Dance Society since 2007.
